Stanley Aquarium 100% Silicone is a non-toxic, solvent-free aquarium silicone sealant designed specifically for aquarium construction and glazing applications. This high-quality aquarium sealant silicone features an acetic curing system, offering excellent adhesion to glass and many other non-porous surfaces. It is perfect for constructing and repairing aquariums, providing a safe and durable bond that is resistant to water, UV, and many chemicals. This silicone for fish tank keeps its elasticity at both low and high temperatures, ensuring long-lasting performance.

Features & Benefits:

  • 100% Solventless Silicone: Ensures a durable and long-lasting seal.
  • Non-Toxic to Fish: Safe for aquarium use.
  • Water and UV Resistant: Withstands exposure to water, UV light, and many chemicals.
  • One-Component: Cures with atmospheric moisture, making it easy to use.
  • Elasticity: Maintains flexibility at low and high temperatures.
  • Rapid Curing: Quick setting for efficient project completion.
  • Excellent Adhesion: Strong bond and physical strength for reliable performance.

Application Areas:

  • Aquarium Construction and Repair: Ideal for constructing and repairing aquariums and other glass structures. Perfect as a sealant for fish tanks.
  • Silicone Aquarium Plants: Safe for use with silicone aquarium plants and decorations.
  • Glass/Aluminum Structures: Suitable for use on glass and aluminum structures.
  • Glazing on Aluminum Frames and Shop Displays: Perfect for glazing applications on aluminum frames and shop displays.
  • Sealing Windows and Doors: Effective for sealing windows and doors to provide a durable and watertight seal.

How to Use:

  • Safety Precautions: Ensure good ventilation at the work station. Wear personal protective equipment. Do not eat, drink, or smoke when using this product. Always wash hands after handling.
  • Surface Preparation: Ensure substrates are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, rust, and other contaminants. Not suitable for swimming pool joints. Non-porous surfaces like aluminum and glass should be cleaned with a suitable solvent and dried thoroughly. Porous substrates such as concrete and brickwork must be mechanically cleaned using compressed air, sandpaper, or a hard brush. Mask off joint edges with self-adhesive tape to protect from contamination.
  • Application: Cut the nozzle to obtain the desired bead size. Apply the sealant as evenly as possible using a professional caulking gun. Use a polyethylene bond breaker tape or backer rod to adjust the joint depth to the proper width/depth ratio and avoid three-side adhesion, which restricts the movement capability of the sealant. Do not expose to water before fully cured.
  • Finishing: Tool the joint surface with a smoothing tool to ensure full contact with the sides and backup material into the joint before skin formation. Remove masking tapes immediately after smoothing over the surface of the sealant.
  • Cleaning: Uncured product can be removed with a damp sponge. Cured product must be removed mechanically.

Specs:

I had an old reptile tank with bad seals everywhere and used this sealant to refurb the tank. The refurb tank has now been used as an aquarium for two months with zero issues. Sealant flowed well and was easy to use. No Complaints - Highly Recommended.

This sealant applies like any other silicone sealant and stays on just well too. It's clear. It does indeed bond quite well to glass (and presumably other things like countertops, etc). However, where it stands out is that it's safe for fish and other aquatic fauna. So far everything seems well in that regard too after fixing my small aquarium. Overall very satisfied.

When it comes to sealing aquariums the general rule is that plain 100% silicone caulks should be fine and aquarium safe, but for those the want a piece of mind and desire a caulk that is actually rated for aquarium use this Stanley caulk is a great choice... It's reasonably priced, and so far is working as expected... I used it to reseal a 55 gallon, I was going to fully disassemble the 55 and build it new, but decided to just reseal it vs risk breaking the trim rings... So far so good, the silicone spread out well and bonded well to the cleaned glass, no issues and the tank is no longer leaking...

It took over two months for this Stanley Aquarium Silicone to arrive, which was frustrating. However, once it did, I was really impressed with how well it works. I've used Aqueon silicone in the past, but this one seems to seal even better. Easy to Apply and Reliable: The silicone is easy to work with and provides a strong, waterproof bond to the glass, making it perfect for aquarium repairs or builds. I’ve used it on both freshwater and saltwater setups with no issues at all. Worth the Wait: While the shipping time was a pain, the performance of this silicone makes up for it. It’s become my new go-to for sealing tanks and projects around my sump.

This is clear, aquarium-grade silicone sealant. As tested it dries clear in a reasonable short time. Stays workable long enough for you to smooth it out and get it where you need it. It also cleans up fairly easily. Priced a bit better than the known brands, but I waited five weeks for it, so it's a trade-off.

This silicone is great for aquariums. It isn't anything different from other 100% silicone tubes though. As you probably know, you want to use only silicone for aquariums as most sealants contain mold inhibitors which are toxic to animals. That rules out almost all sealants. Since I find all types of 100% silicone sealants to be basically identical in performance and quality, I would recommend this one as long as it's price is competitive. There are a lot of sketchy off-brands around too that I would avoid so with this you are getting a known brand. You can use this for other things than aquariums, but I don't know why you'd specifically select this one for it since you likely want the mold-inhibitors and can get it cheaper than this.

I needed some aquarium safe silicone to repair my two large glass aquariums that were leaking. I needed more than just a small tube of silicone, I had a 70gallon and 30 gallon to fix and getting this larger size was just enough. I also can use the extra for my kitchen or bathroom. Worked well .

The best thing about these Stanley caulking tubes is that they come with a screw-on cap that seals tight and keeps the product fresh for several months even after opening and using. This 100% silicone is sticky and adheres to almost anything, including glass as advertised but also to wood, vinyl, PVC, or painted surfaces. It's good for aquariums, but also perfect for sealing weatherproof electrical boxes, outdoor lighting or other wall penetrations. Quality stuff that claims to be UV resistant. Time will tell how well it holds up over time, but so far so good.
