Works great to seal intakes, valve covers, oil pans, water pumps, and who knows. That’s all I’ve used it for so far but it’s great. I’ll buy it again.

Just because it has the name, Stanley, don’t let that fool you although that’s often a good sign that you will have a warranty behind the product. I cannot attest that this is the big Stanley corporation, but the appearance seems to be so far. I have a Lexus GX 460 that I will probably take the intake manifold off to fix the common Toyota V8 intake to valley oil leak. I grew up old school, where every part of metal that made it in a motor had a gasket, but in this particular case the Toyota motor division realize he did not have parts that would be able to be torque down to create this type of seal with pressure so they decided to use a RTV type of sealant Probably 99% of the time has been very successful and had no repairs needed. In the case of the vehicle, I will work on, the option was take the top part of the motor apart and reseal it or from the opinion of the shop, just replaced the motor because one leak is only a start of another. I choose to fix it. I don’t have $10,000 for a motor installed. Anyways, back to the ceiling. This is a high temperature RTV silicon sealant that is only as good as the person applying it. So many people blame everything on the sealant when they either put too much, not enough or did not clean the areas sufficiently. One of the biggest things you can do is a proper scrape down your mating surfaces, and in the case of most of the days vehicles, they have aluminum parts so you need to be extra careful, especially if using a carbide scraper. They also make plastic disposable razor blades that can fit scrapers as well with less damage but if you’re good with your scraper, you know what you’re doing you will not create more problems and you had before If you’re reading this, you probably are already aware of this so speaking to the chorus. I have zero doubts of the quality and longevity of this products lasting as I have never had an RTV sealant fail me. The biggest reason why I bought this was because I wanted the application to be done by a court gun so that I could run simple even beads and cut a very small hole but squeeze higher pressure from the back. Just make sure that you can quick release your handle of the gun to take the pressure off so that you don’t pee out all your RTV when you set the caulking gun down. Always remember to check the flatness of the metal you’re going to work on with some type of precision, flat bar, always check for any part that could be sticking up to cause of bump. Once you start to put this stuff down that may interfere with the ceiling of the part that will make with it, always wipe up your solvent, they are supposed to be the ones doing the cleaning. They can often leave some type of residue that will not appreciate. And I hope overall this helps you and I’m sorry I’m not in the middle of this repair right now which personally I am not sorry because I don’t wanna do it , it’s not Like the old days. Good luck and have a clean workspace.! When possible take a kid with you and teach him how to take things apart and put them back together properly. It’s a lost art.

We have a fireplace with a chimney that goes from the living room up to the roof. In the attic, there were some large air gaps. We wrap the gap with sheet metal and then use this high temperature sealant to seal in the openings between the sheet metal and the rough texture of the stone chimney. It all went fine and given how this silicone material is meant to withstand the heat of a car engine, we feel comfortable in having it against the stonework of the fireplace. Overall, a good heat resistance product that is easy to dispense and laid down well.

I used this to seal up the valve covers on my v twin Briggs this spring. No gaskets, just a thin layer of this RTV. The valve covers are still leak free after weekly use of the motor. Cost is on par to similar quality sealants. Appears to be a good choice for RTV, I suggest purchasing some.

Ordered this sealant to seal the halves of a Sea-Doo two-stroke engine case. This is a demanding application as these cases are known to leak internally and must be tested pressure-tight once the top end is done. This stuff appears to me to perform similar to Yamabond which I have used for years. All of these RTV based sealants tend to solidify in the tube once opened, so I appreciate a 2.4 oz tube instead of having to buy a much larger one. After 48 hours my engine case held pressure, so I'm a happy customer!

I ordered the “Stanley High-Temp RTV Silicone Gasket Maker -1x2.36 fl.oz. Black, Oil, Vibration and Heat Resistant Black Silicone Sealant for Automotive Valve Covers and Engine Parts - 1 Pack” to review and to use on an exhaust extension pipe for our new generator. I actually ordered this before measuring the temperature at the site I intended to use this, which was on the muffler where I wanted to attach the exhaust extension. When I did eventually measure it, it turned out that it was around 700 degrees and too hot for this product. However, the measured temperature at the other end of the extension was well within the limits of this product so I instead used it to mount some screen material for a makeshift spark arrestor. I really like that it worked perfectly as an adhesive and easily smoothed out by rubbing the final coat with some isopropyl alcohol on my fingertip. I also like that it worked perfectly for this intended use while running the generator for 5 days following hurricane Beryl. 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️– Average to Above Average – At least what you would expect based on the Product Page. Maybe a bit more. A solid product. Recommended. Explaining my rating system: 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️– Exceeded Expectations – Highly recommend product. 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️– Average to Above Average – At least what you would expect based on the Product Page. Maybe you’ll feel differently but I cannot fully stand behind the product. 2 stars ⭐️⭐️– Below Average – Incorrect, missing, or misleading information on the product page. Low quality or questionable safety issues. Not recommended. 1 star ⭐️– Junk – A complete misrepresentation of the product advertised, severe quality or safety issues. Avoid at all costs.

I have a few silicone products under this borrowed label and my research satisfied my curiosity that the company behind the label was legitimate. I have been using this stuff since I was a kid. Helping my father back in the late 70ies in his commercial gas/ repair station. Today I used this to make a head gasket for my lawn mower. I'm pretty confident it will work as expected. I recommend using a scraper and not a blade to remove residue and gasket material from the surface. Any stubborn stuff can be softened with mineral spirits. Cheers

Cheers

I used this to make some gaskets and it worked great, just as good as the usual Permatex I normally use. No leaks!

This Stanley High temp silicone gasket maker works very well. My bf used this on our rv when he changed the fuel pump. It can be used more than once if you cap it right. I am satisfied with the quality of this and i would recommend

This high heat gasket material is good for many uses. I like that it has a tube with a lid on it. It made it easy to apply. As for longevity, we'll have to see. So far so good. I recommend this gasket making product.
